Hello,
On the version of the LM2596 buck regulator I have, I’m unable to see how to disable the voltage readout LEDs. I’ve tried holding all the various buttons in for different periods of time, but to no avail. There is no “P3” jumper as indicated in the datasheet that came with the device.
The issue is that the display is powered off the input voltage via a tiny regulator. It’s drawing around 40mA with an input of 37V (device is rated to 40V). That little guy is dropping 37-3 = 34V @ 40mA = 1.36W! That’s why these regulators get so hot with high input voltages even with no load on the output. I’m hoping that by disabling the LED display it’ll drop the current down through the regulator and keep things cooler.
Thanks in advance for you help.
