I burned out two of these meters. On the second one I received I carefully verified it worked properly. I wired a 15 feet long 6 conductor extension cable for it. I connected only the three 12 volt battery leads to the meter thru this cable, then the meter display measured the voltage and the display worked properly. Then I connected my 15 foot cable leads to the Hall sensor connector on the meter, the meter smoked a little and went dark. Note: The other end of the 15 foot cable did not have the Hall sensor connected when this happened and the bare leads were not touching anything. After that I saw that the Hall sensor red lead in my cable was intermittently connected to 12 volts.
This product needs a design change. No product should fail permanently or cause a fire due to external cable wiring flaws.

What precautions do I need to observe when lengthening the Hall Effect sensor cable? This is my 2nd device, https://www.amazon.com/DROK-Display-Digital-Multimeter-Voltmeter/dp/B07B4CWKRJ/ , and I’m posting as a reply because I suspect it’s the same device that Anton has. My first device is used in a solar charged battery system for powering Ham radio equipment.
