I have an old VW Beetle that has been converted to 12v. However, the radio is still 6v.
I bought this converter, hoping to drop the voltage, but I am unsure how to connect the black wires. The radio grounds to the car body directly; it doesn’t have a ground wire coming out of it. Can this converter be used, and if so, how to wire it? I thought about connecting the “in” side black wire to the metal case of the radio, then the “out” side black wire to the car body. Would that work?
Danny YanezDecember 18, 2016 at 11:40 amPost count: 0Hello Danny Yanez,
Thank you for writing in.
Do you mean that there is an original voltage limiter with the fuel gage, which can convert 12V to 6V?
So sorry that we are not very clear about your application.
Could you please tell us more details of it?
With your help, we can find a solution more quickly.

Yes, there is an original voltage limiter in side the fuel gage, that control the temperature and the oil pressure there are 3 pins or connector, one pin connect from the 12v in from of the harness of the car, then go in to the fuel gage voltage limiter, and then second pin its the 5v out which connect in to the third pin with they call the S cable which they supply the 5v in to the temperature gage and the oil pressure.
its kind confusing but if you can log in to this web side “charngersourceguide.com you wii see what I just try to explain to you..Thank you so much any help will be appreciate..
Best Regards
RogerMarch 13, 2017 at 11:10 pmPost count: 0I bought this converter to reduce 12v to 6v to operate a 50 year old auto horn rated at 6v. The horn blasts when using 12v, but I’m afraid I’ll destroy it w/ 12v.
When I connected the converter, nothing from the horn. I tested the output of the converter and it was 6v across the two output wires.
I connected the converter input red wire to the 12v battery + terminal and the black to the – terminal.
The output wires were connected to the two horn wires.
Do you have any suggestions??RogerMarch 14, 2017 at 2:58 pmPost count: 0Since my original post, I’ve tried tying the input & out negative wires to the negative terminal of the battery. Then switching the 12v input on/off. The horn still won’t work. Then I tried switching the 6v output. Horn won’t work.
I’m at a loss. This product apparently won’t work for my horn application.RogerMarch 17, 2017 at 12:57 pmPost count: 0It’s your product, it’s in your Amazon store. That’s where I bought it.
That’s the link. So now I guess I’ll have to wait another week for a reply. Your Customer Service leaves a Lot to be desired.

Hello Roger,
Thank you for your reply.
According to your description, there are 6v output from our converter.
Have you try to connect it with other load to see if it can work?
If it still can’t work with other load, we sincrely hope you can offer some picture to let us check the wiring.
Look forward to your reply.
