I connected all the cables and powered up the booster. When I press the SET button and turn the dial, the setting value does not change. How do I get it to work?

I am trying to use this for my dash cam using sub battery. Main battery output is 12V and the sub battery charging requirement is 14.5V input hence the step up booster. The dash cam is working as intended so assuming there’s no issue with wiring.

Also, the first time I powered it up, a lot of smoke came out of welded cable. Is this normal?
