So im giving it five stars. Warning. The current regulator is probably what burns them up. You also want to not have huge jumps in voltage. Ideally, you would want to only down convert about 5 volts. Effeciency .improves as vin approaches vout. Meaning the more bigger the range from vin and vout, the lower the effeciency in any case. Not something the manufacturer can change. Physics fault. Avoid current regulating if possible. Allow devices with fans etc to be your current regulator ,if needed. One thing I will say is the diode he ships you is for back flow protection. Small back flow charges do harm the device. One small arch from a loose wire caused voltage back flow, partially harming device. Do use diode after vout in your circuit. My fault, otherwise would dock a star. Suggestion: mention the lack of back flow protection in user pamphlet. Hard to predict what features are in complex circuits. My set up in pic. Does work. Neat tool. Anyone know of a buck converter that uses mppt tech that user can control for no specific target? Like this set up. Don't laugh. Does away with middle man batteries. Straight feed. Btw, the back voltage harmed the digital read for output mode. Still works, but output voltage no longer observable via the in out button :(. |
Works well. Blue backlight is annoying. | |

Used this to build a slightly boosted (+10%) 13v/5.5v PC power supply for a large array of external hard drives. Really useful, works great. Great readout. Just wish the backlight could be turned off, that's annoying. Also, blue LEDs in general are done to death and I'm tempted to knock a star just for using yet another inappropriate, obnoxious blue LED. |
